So I contacted April by Kunbi via email to make my wedding dress. I must say she was very professional compared to other Nigerian fashion designers I had tried to talk to. She advised she only does consultations on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I picked a Tuesday and she responded she would be available from 1pm to 6pm. Took excuse from work and went there for 1pm on my appointment date.

I got to her store at 2:05pm and I was told she had not be in the store today. I asked if she could be called as I needed to get back to work. The lady in the store went ahead to call someone else who she later said is her PA. When she got off the phone, she said the PA would call her as she had left her house. I immediately called my sister who had persuaded me to buy Nigerian for my wedding dress and she asked I wait for 15 mins maybe something came up for her.

After 5 mins of waiting, I asked the lady in the store for update. She immediately called the PA back and she said the PA said she is typing a message on whatsapp and we should wait for her response. And I’m thinking: did I come to see the president that can only be called on a secured line or the fashion designer I want to PAY to make my wedding dress?

After a few seconds, I was told she had stopped typing and she didn’t send a message. So I asked her what next. She said I should drop my number and I would be called when she eventually comes into the store. Now, I am thinking: Am I supposed to trust a lady that can’t keep an appointment to make the most important dress of my wedding? I politely told the lady not to worry as I would not be returning to the store.

I must admit I should have emailed a day before to confirm the appointment. I’ve had a lot on my mind, I am only planning a wedding. It has been over 2 weeks and I am yet to receive an email or call from April by Kunbi apologizing about missing the appointment or even rescheduling the appointment.
