I was turning the big 21 (yes!! I am officially legal now) and I decided to celebrate by having a birthday dinner. I was looking for an affordable yet classy place that’d meet all my requirements. Basically, I was looking at hosting 15 friends, chinese buffet, music, good lighting for pictures and lots of FUN! I decided on Aroy-Dee, one of the Westown Hotel restaurant’s, as I’d tried its sister restaurant OSE, and enjoyed the food.
Aroy-Dee is located on the 9th floor/rooftop of the Westown Hotel. It is the only restaurant in the hotel that offers Chinese cuisine. I had booked and paid for the space a week before because I was certain I wouldn’t change my mind. I explained to the manager what exactly I wanted and the type of dishes I wanted and he assured me they could handle my requests.
PARKING: There is free and ample parking space within the compound and street parking is available.
AMBIENCE/DÉCOR: Aroy-Dee is a beautiful restaurant. The decor reminded me of chinatown. The lightning was perfect and I ended up taking beautiful pictures. Naija hit tracks were banging in the background and the table setting was perfect, however the air conditioner wasn’t really cooling tbh. I was pretty hot.
FOOD: I wanted a 3 course buffet with strictly Chinese meals. Starters were basically chicken corn soup, chicken spring rolls and samosa.
Entrees included: sliced beef in spring onion sauce, lemon grass chicken, braised fish in chili sauce, singapore noodles, special fried rice and steamed jasmine rice.
Dessert was basically fruit salad and cake.
DRINKS: I had bottles of red wine, white wine, non alcoholic wine, packs of juice and bottled water.
SERVICE: The service was ON POINT. I really felt blessed having them properly execute my birthday dinner. The manager and waiters were very polite and courteous. They made sure the day was all about me and I was really pleased. Payment was with cash although POS was available.
RATING: I rate Aroy-Dee Thai & Chinese Cuisine a 9 over 10. Everything was perfect except for the non cooling air conditioner.
