Hi all… So i visited the famous Bogobiri restaurant located in Ikoyi. I really dont know what i was expecting though. I went with a friend who said the ambience will suit me just fine. I love live bands and jazz so i thought i’ll get something like that. Worst case scenario, I will get a Bottles restaurant settings (On the record, Bottles is my favourite restaurant). I really was hoping it will look like Bottles, because i find it difficult hanging with anyone else but boo at bottles cos it feels wrong….thats like our spot *wink wink*.
Enough about Bottles, back to BogoBiri, it really wasn’t what i expected. It was pretty small and choked up. Kudos to either the ventilation there or the calibre of people, there was no body odour or stale sweat smell. Considering how tight it was, i’m pretty shocked. Anyhoo, immediatly i entered, my first thought was to run. I hate small spaces, i hate it more when humans are all up in my face. We sha found somewhere to perch (cant say sit).
It was open mic night…..i love open mic. There was this chic in mohawk who had the stage. Can i just say if I should ever swing the other way, it will be with a chocolate skinned girl wearing a mohawk and several piercings with a dash of tattoo, I love em. I derail again…..ok, she had the stage, but i was still all squeamish because of my space till my drink came.
I ordered a bottle of Orijin though i did not really have the time to make up my mind as it was obvious if i didnt place my order now the guy will move on to the next table (sorry, next corner cos there was no table). When our drinks came it was motuary standard though after 10 minutes. Kudos to the waiter though, given the crowd, i thought it will take 30 minutes or an hour. It was that crowded. The service was great as the waiter kept checking on my corner to see if i wanted a top up or food.
I think the drink loosened me up bit and i began to appreciate the settings more….and then Isaac Geralds came on stage….can i get a whoop whoop. I loove loove Isaac Geralds. He can do no wrong in my sight. He makes me believe in love. whoosh. He swept me off my feet like he always does (I know he’s taken duh). But he made my night. I began to see the place in a new light and i realised its really not that bad. There were a lot of eye candies. I mean guys with really good butts wearing really good cologne. At a point i forgot about my claustrophobia. I had fun though i wouldnt willingly drive down there again unless its an invite i cant say no to. But its a great place to chill with colleagues as a group cos i saw a lot of work mates chilling out, or a date where ya’ll dont wanna have a serious convo, or better still all those your friends who just got back from the abroad or expatriates who wanna feel they’re connecting to some seemingly non existent roots will totally love the place
