One day, while scrolling through dessert hashtags on instagram as I do to pass the time, I came across Dough Nigeria and I was sold. Do you know how rare a good doughnut is in Nigeria? I hadn’t had one at the time so I was more than willing to try.
Service : I placed the order on their site as they charge a 30% fee if you call to place your order (interesting) BUT I was excited.
My first issue arose when I didn’t get an order confirmation email. Call me spoiled but I just expect that when I order on a website, I immediately get a confirmation email detailing my order back to me. But I remained optimistic.
My second issue arose when they took 2 days to email me asking when I would like my order delivered. I was upset because on the website, I explicitly said ASAP! But I had no proof because I had no confirmation email so I just responded saying “as soon as possible please.”
My third issue arose when they decided to take another two days to deliver, AND they didn’t call before they came. Honestly, at this point I was not excited about the doughnuts at all. In fact, I was tempted to tell the security to turn the delivery guy away. But you know what they say: “don’t shoot the messenger”.
Price : The box of 6 cost me N3500 including delivery fee.
Results : Thank God I didn’t turn the delivery guy away because I would have missed out on the best doughnuts I’ve had in a WHILE. These guys rival Krispy Kreme doughnuts and I’m not selling lies. They are light and airy and delicious and filling! And of course the creative frosting on the doughnuts is a plus!!
My half dozen Dough Nigeria donuts
I think the overall takeaway from Dough Nigeria is that you will absolutely love your doughnuts, you will however, have to be extremely patient to receive them.
A close friend of mine ordered a box of 6 to my office. I had Chocolate, coconut, apple pie, red velvet, cheesecake and salted caramel. All tasted good. Think the apple pie and salted caramel were my faves. 8/10 overall rating based on global standards.
Rival Krispy Kreme?!?!? Mmmm I need to check them out!
