I knew November would be a busy month as I had various events planned, so I had to leave the house girl struggle and get my hair done.
I asked my friends for suggestions on where to get my weave sewn in properly at a very affordable price and I was told to try out HAIR PLANET or HAIR COMMANDER, both of which are on University Road, Akoka. I decided to try Hair Planet first. I’ll check out Hair Commander some other time and write a review.
Now, Hair Planet is a unisex salon. I mean, independent stylists man their stands and hustle to get customers. Basically, the stylists pay the owner of Hair Planet to use the stalls. Typical Hair Planet services include braiding, fixing, mani and pedis, barbering, and anything beauty related.
The interior of Hair Planet is alright; two washing stands, standing hair dryers, numerous hand dryers, etc. There was electricity when I visited, however, there is a standby generator in case power goes off.

One of the stylists, Wale, caught my attention… young guy, average height, #LaiSkin, with lots of tattoos and fixed nails. I decided to get my hair done with him even though I was skeptical at first.
Anyways, I got to his stand and decided to battle the price before we began (I no wan Gbese.) His asking price was 3,500 Naira for fixing and retouching. I literally flew from the chair…LOL. We finally agreed on 2,000 Naira. (key takeaway: put on your A-Game when it comes to haggling).

The retouching process was okay, although I felt he was a bit clumsy. He was also clumsy while washing my hair and I got soaked on several occasions. His blow drying skills were pretty impressive though, and I was tempted for a second to leave my hair like that.

Wale is awesome with installing a weave. I was too impressed! He was fast and the process was really smooth – no needle prick or any other similar disasters. It basically took 45 minutes to get my weave installed!

I rate my experience with Hair Planet a 7 over 10. I was able to “price” well so I liked that, however, I’d have preferred not getting drenched in water during the washing process.
I really like my weaveee :)
Im a unilag student and Hair Planet is my go to salon. Its affordable. . My stylist is aunty busy and she makes hair well.
