I decided to get a power bank from Jumia as the price was pretty cheap in comparison to the price other dealers were quoting. So I placed my order and opted for the pay on pickup option (vs. pay on delivery) since Jumia has a pickup centre in Yaba (which is not too far from my campus.) Plus, pay on pick-up cost 100 Naira vs. 500 Naira for pay on delivery (for orders that cost less than 10,000 Naira.)
I got a text from Jumia asking I visit the pickup centre to get my items within the hours of 10am to 4pm. I finally embarked on my journey and my experience with Jumia wasn’t bad but locating the pickup centre was very difficult!
The landmark used to identify the centre is the Lady of Apostles Secondary School. Now the problem was there was no signage! I had to walk around a bit and ask folks on the street for help. I finally met a guy who directed me to the correct building, which is actually located beside the Lady of Apostles Secondary School. The Jumia Yaba pickup centre is actually the first building on the street!
Of course I had to complain to the attendant how pathetic it was to not have any signage and he explained the lack of signage was to prevent robbers from attacking them. My opinion? It’s a pathetic excuse because Dealdey has a pickup center that is very easy to identify with Proper signage!
Anyway, collecting my item was pretty fast. I paid 4,000 naira and got my 300 naira change without hassles. I tested the power bank and it worked pretty fine so I was out.
I will rate the Yaba Jumia pickup center a 6 over 10. I believe it would make more sense to have some type of signage as this would eliminate the stress of locating the building!!
Quick update….my experience with jumia was flawless…I ordered and picked up my package at the right drop off station after I got a message from jumia…I never thought it would be that easy…if at all you are looking for the yaba drop off station, indeed there is no signage but your landmark should be the our Lady of apostles sec school, and then look for the Coldstone/domino’s pizza building and after that is the jumia building..if I remember correctly,it should be a brown building with a black gate..I apologize for any errors in my description… I can’t believe I’m saying this but you can trust jumia
Even with this review, I’m still skeptical about doing business or buying stuff from Jumia. I have one two many terror stories that have been imprinted on my mind.
