This is my second movie review, and I am pretty excited. This time, I bring to you from the Royal Arts Academy Production stable, LAGOS COUGARS! My good friend Taymmie was talking about it, and I got really interested…plus the title was pretty catchy as well.

Lagos Cougars is a 2013 movie about 3 beautiful ladies in their forties who are interested in dating younger guys. As the story line evolves, we learn about each lady’s reason for going into the “cougarism” business. E.g. Aret (Uche Jumbo) was interested in Chigo (Alex Ekubo) because he was very good in bed, and was always ready to “service her engine”, while Elsie (Monalisa Chinda), was lured into the business by her son’s best friend. I think Elsie’s issue was the funniest, because since there is nothing hidden under the sun, her son found out. Joke, on the other hand, was lured into cougarism by here employee turned lover, because she had a pathetic boyfriend… I guess she was really interested in love. What happened next with all these women? You’d have to watch the movie for yourself, but here’s my synopsis:
THE GOOD
I think they made a point with the movie, this scenario happens every day in Lagos, I was impressed with Uche Jumbo’s acting, and think she is a pro at what she does…even Alex Ekubo; he acted like he was a boy toy on a regular LOOL. Diana Yekini also played the role of a scorned American perfectly.
THE UGLY
Danielle Okeke is a terrible actress. I was irritated by all her scenes. She cannot act to save her life. I don’t think Monalisa Chinda put in much effort as well; she was too relaxed and at some point emotionless. The ending of the movie was predictable and cliché. Also, I am getting too familiar with royal arts academy actors; they basically recycle them which is a bit boring.
MY RATING
I will rate the movie a 4 over 10. This is the first below par movie from Royal arts academy, and I honestly expected better. Definitely not a must see movie, but if you’re interested I believe it’s available on IrokoTV .
