Lakeem Suites Ikoyi – 16 Sunmbo Jibowu Street, Ikoyi, Lagos NG – off Awolowo Road / Old Ikoyi business district (the area is directly contiguous to the “Ikoyi” proper district).

How did you hear about this business? What services do they offer?

I was made aware of the business by a relative who happens to be good friends with the owner of the hotel. Fairly new upstart in the hospitality space in Nigeria with a disruptive business model – offering a pretty broad range of services at bargain prices all under one umbrella. There are approximately 30 bedrooms in the hotel (ranging in luxury from ‘Classic’ to ‘Royal’ grades) stocked with almost any and every amenity one would expect from a typical 3 to 4 star hotel in Nigeria.

What service have you received?

Services offered include room accommodation (obviously), in-house restaurant and bar, laundry, car hire, and airport shuttle services.

What’s pricing like at this establishment?

Pricing varies by room grade accommodation. NGN20k/night for a classic room; NGN25k/night for a luxury room; NGN30k/night for a diplomatic room; and NGN35k/night for a royal room. All rooms come with really comfortable beds, expected toiletries, air-conditioned, free high speed WiFi internet connection, an LED flat screen TV with 20 DSTV channels, refrigerator, safe deposit box, a work-desk and chair. Hotel is also secured by cameras and a watchman 24/7. Also non-stop electricity (power sourced from the local distribution grid supplemented with a private transformer).

What do you like about this establishment?

Given the relatively small size of the establishment, I was pretty impressed by the professionalism exhibited by the hotel staff. All requests I had during my stay were addressed in a prompt and courteous manner, something that seems to be sorely lacking at most other establishments (be they restaurants, lounges, and clubs) I patronized during my two week stay in Nigeria unfortunately.

What don’t you like about this establishment?

Wish there was a gym facility in the hotel. Unfortunately, they did not have one. Having said that, I am not sure how commonplace it is to have one in most 3 star hotels in Nigeria so I did not hold it against them too much.

Do you have a favorite memory/item from this establishment?

The restaurant had a pretty exhaustive list of items on its menu. Again, given the relative size of the establishment, I found this very impressive. P.S. The ‘efo riro’ is to die for if I had to pick something off the menu that is a must-try during a stay.

What would be your advice to this business?

Keep up the good job.

If applicable, what’s the parking situation at this establishment?

There is a small parking area outside the establishment that is guarded by the same security guard who watches over the hotel 24/7. This could probably only fit 2 to 3 cars at a time at best. Any overflow parking will have to be on the street.

On a scale of 1-10, what would be your overall rating? And why?

I will give Lakeem Suites a 7/10. While it is a small establishment with more areas to improve upon, which will undoubtedly happen over time, the hotel has done a stand-up job with the limited resources it has at its disposal.
