It’s not difficult to find this spot as it’s the only lively place within the area at such late hours. There are various food stands selling different items (e.g. Nkwobi, Chicken, Fish and Chips, etc.). The stands are situated away from the sitting area. Seating is outdoor, with plastic chairs and tables. I apologize for not taking pictures.
We opted for Nkwobi and Fish and Chips and placed our orders at the respective stands. We proceeded to the sitting area and were approached by an attendant who took our drink orders (bottle of Smirnoff, Guinness Stout and Yogurt).
For those who don’t know, Nkwobi is a Nigerian delicacy made of cow’s feet which are cut into tiny pieces and seasoned. The dish is usually garnished with vegetables.
The lady at the Nkwobi Palace stand was very polite. We ordered a plate of Nkwobi to share as it was my first time trying it. We were asked to wait for 5 minutes and she kept to time.
Once the Nkwobi arrived, I took off all the vegetables and gave it a try. BOYYYYY! It was amazing! I’ve been missing good things 🙁
The Nkwobi cost 500 Naira, which is very affordable in my opinion.
I really enjoyed the Nkwobi, without the vegetables oh! Apparently, Nkowobi Palace also offers Isiewu. I might have to try that next time.
RICHBITE BBQ SPOT
The guy at the Richbite BBQ stand was quite okay; very friendly and willing to answer my questions. Fish ranges from 1,000 naira – 2,000 naira, depending on the size of the fish. We ordered fish worth 1,200 naira and waited for about 10 – 15 minutes before it arrived.
I was happy the fish came with chips (unlike my previous experience at another grill), and the fish was delicious! Well cooked and seasoned properly. The chips were crisp enough and not burnt. The meal also came with complimentary coleslaw which I totally enjoyed. 😀
Overall, I will rate this joint an 8 over 10 mainly because the food was amazing!! There were a lot of cats playing around though, and I hate cats so much!! There were also mosquitoes. I know it’s an open space, but they should definitely figure out a way to keep those cats and mosquitoes away!
