My friends and I decided to spend the night in a hotel, away from the bedbugs in my school (that review is for another day) and we decided to stay at Orchid Villa.
Locating this hotel was a lot of work. In fact, we looked round the vicinity of Surulere (using Uber o) before we finally found it.
Orchid Villa is a bungalow neatly tucked away in a residential area. At first, I was pretty skeptical as to whether we were in the right place but after knocking for almost 15 minutes, they decided to open the gate. There is parking space for just 2 cars.
On getting to the reception, we decided to go for the cheapest room which was the standard room and cost 10,500NGN per night. Rooms range from 10k5 to 15k. The first room we got had faulty air conditioning, so we were moved to another room after complaining .
What I liked :
1. The bed was comfortable. Basically any bed that’s not my dorm bed is comfortable tbh.
2. The big fridge, which was actually working unlike fridges in some other hotels I’ve checked out.
3. The service was actually decent.
What I didn’t like:
1. The toilet and bathroom. It was so tiny! Very ridiculous. I don’t know how I was able to fit in. The WC and the sink were quite dirty and brown. I was really disappointed.
Toilet
2. There were no complimentary toiletries arranged. We had to go to the reception to remind them.
3. The kitchen, which was close to the reception, was so dirty! We decided not to even try their food for fear of food poisoning.
The kitchen..imagine!
I rate Orchid Villa a 4/10. Everything was just terrible tbh, except the bed. I mean, even if it cost 10k, I need more value for my money. It really wasn’t worth the money. It reminded me of Alfredo hotels .
This hotel seriously needs an upgrade; a total makeover.
To be very honest, this shouldn’t be called a hotel. Imagine turning on a black light and examining the sheets. You will probably be so scarred for life that whenever you see a bed, shivers will run down your spine.
The pictures in the gallery are VERY disgusting, especially the kitchen picture. How is this even a hotel? Gross!
