First of all, major shout out to Meme for recommending we hang out at SOUTH Eatery & Social House. Once we’d decided we were coming here, I called to make sure we didn’t need a reservation. Then, I proceeded to ask a ton of questions. These folks had only been open for about 9 days, and claimed to have the best burger in town so I was definitely excited to give them a shot.

Parking: B

Dedicated parking for about 10 cars double parked. There were some very helpful guys (maybe security?) who helped me find a great spot to park. My car is really low so I’m always extra cautious when I have to climb over something to park. Didn’t have to deal with that here, hence the B rating.

Ambience: A+

Love it! There’s an upstairs space as well, and there are swing table sets outside too. For the entire time I almost forgot I was in Lagos. Particularly liked the bar area. If I worked in the area, this would definitely be my happy hour spot (if they did have a happy hour menu and cocktails cost less than 2k). Very clean restrooms too! Very good space for a first date (mmm, any date really), happy hour, hangout with friends, small birthday party (someone had rented half of the upstairs space when we visited), etc.

Service: A+

It’s been a while I’ve received impeccable service in Lagos. I believe the last time was at R.S.V.P.. The waiters here were pretty attentive. But what really blew my mind was that I’d ordered a drink that I didn’t think tasted right, and it wasn’t a hassle to return it. In fact, someone (who I believe is the manager) actually walked over to apologize and ask if I wanted something else and then even made a solid recommendation.

Food: B

I’ll be the first to tell you that they’ve got some more work to do in this department. The folks at SOUTH Eatery & Social House are still playing around with the menu, and should have a finalized version shortly. Out of curiosity I tried the Bacon Bean Fritters, which were supposed to be like akara but stuffed with mozzarella cheese and bacon. Tasted like really good akara, but I didn’t taste any of the cheese or bacon. Boneless chicken wings and the Cheese burger were just ok. However, The French burger stood out BIGLY! Like, this burger is an A++ and one of the best burgers I’ve had in LIFE! It was sinfully delicious and all the flavors really came alive. Wasn’t surprised to find out that they actually make their pattys in house.

NOTE – I got the burger medium rare, and that’s why it probably tasted as juicy. Don’t look at the color of the patty, just get it medium rare and eat it, period. You can thank me later. 🙂

Pricing: B

Pretty decent. Definitely not your everyday kind of place, but a proper meal (I highly recommend The French Burger #8500) + a cocktail (I highly recommend the Bourbon Berry Lemonade #3000) should set you back about 10,000 naira (shebi I already told you it’s not every day you come here? lol).

Overall, I had a great experience at SOUTH Eatery & Social House and would be returning very soon. Solid 9/10 rating in my opinion.
