I was among the lucky few to attend the sleek studio skin launch event which took place at the sleek studio plaza at Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island. I was literally starving and decided to grab a bite before heading over to the event.
I came across Spice Bowl, which is on the second floor of the building. It’s not the only restaurant in the building but it’s quite easy to locate.
Spice Bowl is an “Afro – Asian” restaurant dishing up interesting African and Asian meals and they are quite affordable so decided to give them a try.
PARKING: There is ample parking in the compound and street parking is also available.
AMBIANCE/DÉCOR: Interior is just there. It has this “eatery” setting. There is no extra décor or anything to give it life. However, I love the lightening; it’s perfect for taking pictures! I would recommend Spice Bowl for lunch with friends, but definitely not a romantic dinner (Bae will be disappointed).

FOOD: I’d perused the menu and decided to try out their “Mandarin rice”. The waiter was knowledgeable enough to explain the contents of the mandarin rice. I placed my order and was told to wait for 15 minutes. Afro meals range from 500-2800 naira while Asian meals range from 1,000 -2,800 naira.
While waiting, the waiter brought hot towels and I was really impressed. I mean, how many restaurants still remember the tradition? The waiter also served bread and butter….in my book that’s automatic 5 stars!!! lol….

12 minutes later, my food was served and it looked delicious and tasted just as good! There were enough proteins (shrimps, chicken, beef and the works) in the rice….just how I like it.

DRINKS: I got a glass of Chapman for 500 Naira (the cheapest I’ve had in Lagos) and a big bottle of Eva water for 300 naira. Cocktails range from 500-1,500 naira which is very affordable.
SERVICE: There were two waiters available and they were very polite. I enjoyed their service. They were reassuring and always smiling.
My bill was 2,200 Naira and I paid via POS. There were no POS issues whatsoever.
While leaving, I was given candy and it literally melted my heart.
RATING: Spice Bowl is a very affordable restaurant. I spent 2,200 naira on a meal with drinks and I was full (and that, my friends, hardly occurs when I visit standard restaurants in Lagos). My food was delicious and the staff were courteous, but I feel Spice Bowl needs to upgrade their décor. I will rate them an 8 over 10.
Good management…cool staff.
Good environment too…they’ve got an Express down at Chevron Drive…The express price is more economical.
Nice one, would deff try them out
Girls and candy. The rice looks nice by the way. Instantly made me hungry. Nice review SG.
