I recently resumed a new semester and new semester equals new textbooks. Our lecturers had been nice enough to give us a list of recommended textbooks, so it was up to us to get them.
Before I begin my review, please note that MAJORITY OF THE BOOKSHOP OWNERS IN YABA ARE THIEVES!! Yes, I said it. They never have a fixed price for their books; instead, they give you ridiculous prices based on your appearance.
I had made up my mind to buy my books from CMS or any other store outside the Yaba/Ojuelegba axis until a friend introduced me to The Book Source.
The Book Source has 2 branches on the Ojuelegba road. Basically, they sell books from all fields of life. From medical books to law/business books and so on.
I was pretty impressed with the sales attendants, who were quite funny and straight forward. I’d asked for Hutchinson’s Clinical Examination textbook but it was out of stock, so I ended up buying another related book, the MacLeod’s Clinical Examination, which cost 3,500 Naira without hassles. I should note that the MacLeod’s book as well wasn’t available. As a result, one of the reps had to go the main branch to get the book and this took less than 10 minutes.
Payment is with cash only as there is no POS option.
The book I got.
I will rate The Book Source a 7 over 10. The reps were very accommodating and their books are pretty affordable, but it seems like they have some stocking issues. I’d also recommend giving them a call (to confirm they have the book you might be interested in) before heading over.
