I’d planned to get my BVN done in the US but even there too, Naija factor happened so I decided to get in done in Naij.
I visited the Zenith bank branch off Admiralty, hoping to wrap up the process in 15-30mins, however, that was farrrr from my reality! The process took over an hour mainly due to the chaos in the branch.
Parking – The parking lot is spacious and fits about 20-25 cars. We didn’t have any issues parking.
Branch Layout – This branch is sort of spacious but the space hasn’t been well optimized, in my opinion. There’s an upstairs part as well but most clients and transactions are handled downstairs.
There were a bunch of people in the branch once we walked in and we were welcomed by some interesting odor, which I believe to be a mixture of body odors. Not sure how this issue could be mitigated because I did spot an air freshener on one of the walls.
Anyway, upon getting in I couldn’t quite tell where to get the BVN done. I noticed that other customers also struggled to figure out where to go for which service. I’d have liked if there was some kind of signage to direct customers accordingly.
Service – Honestly, the staff were pretty polite even as they dealt with very difficult and impatient customers. I was super impressed with their level of courteousness (although there was one babe there that just refused to smile). However, they were multitasking wayyyy too much. For example, as I was being attended to, customers kept approaching the rep who was helping me to ask different questions and she’d stop what she was working on to answer their questions and resolve the issue if she felt it wouldn’t take up too much time…this I think is usually fine but it happened wayyyy too much and extended the time I had to spend there.
I also noticed multiple people interrupt the reps to ask for different forms. It’d have been good if those forms were readily available (e.g. on the little rack that had the BVN forms).
I rate my experience at Zenith a 5/10. The space was kind of hot and didn’t smell great when I visited and the chaos was too much! Plus, there were no pens and I had to beg the security guy to lend me his pen. The reps, though polite, were easily distracted and attended to multiple customers at the same time. My advice would be to get a personal banker and just have him/her coordinate your bank transactions as needed.
I think Zenith bank is leaving on past glory, although SOME of the staff are okay, but banking is beyond having good staffs. There are some basic things that are needed in the banking hall and if they are missing then its just bullsh*t…. I wish they can re-brand or change their name to Mid Bank (lol)
I couldnt agree more with this post…although in my own experience, the only good thing about Zenith was the courteous staff who attended to me. Despite challenging circumstances, she smiled all through. i appreciated that.
Zenith, please do better!
