Hey RN fam! Typing the first sentence reminds me of how much I miss doing this!

So, I was in Nigeria recently for my brothers wedding which was a success. For the wedding I had this lovely dress made for me by a fashion designer (FD) my mum recently found, thanks to her many friends. The name of the FD is Ozioma and her business name is Zimbest. I remember my mum calling me one day to tell me to send my measurement to a new FD a few of her friends started using and me grumbling about how I already had someone who would make my dress. I never sent in the measurement because my plan was to come into the country 2wks before the wedding, go and pick up the material and give it to someone I trust.

At Ozioma’s outlet in FESTAC, there are a few parking spaces with security and there’s also street parking. I saw my mums dress and I was like oh wow! But I definitely didn’t let it show. Lol. I came up with “oh my tailor isn’t picking up her phone, I’ll just try you this once blah blah blah.” and ended up leaving my material with them to sew.

8 days later, I got a call to pick up my dress. I thought this was really quick compared to the timing of other Lagos tailors including mine. I got there, and the dress looked really basic. She didn’t make the exact style I’d asked for because “my material couldn’t work for that style” so she chose to make a similar style. Anyways, I tried on the dress and it was really tight. After the loosening and fitting, I liked how I looked. She got all the cuts and curves in the right places which I didn’t notice at first because I was hungry and really wanted to get home. They didn’t need to amend the waist, boobs, tighten here or there…ladies will understand what I mean. I was okay with my dress and wasn’t really pained seeing that it cost N13,000, but I loved my mum and sisters dresses more, and I still do!

On the day of the wedding, after makeup and hair, I looked into the mirror and I began to really appreciate the dress as it was just perfect. The pictures attached won’t lie. I got so many praises from family and a few friends asked me about Zimbest.

My dress cost 13k, same as my sister’s and cousin’s, but my mum’s cost 90k including her material.

I think Zimbest doesn’t make dresses less than 15k. We got a discount because they made dresses for my sister in law and a few cousins. A friend of mine is using Zimbest to sew her traditional wedding outfit which cost 40k…but please note that they hand bead the dresses (e.g.my mums dress was heavily beaded).

I love Zimbest’s pricing and Ozioma’s very calm spirit. Zimbest makes dresses better than some I see on Instagram with ridiculous prices only that they aren’t on Instagram to showcase their work.

Oh, I should add that while we were at Zimbest in Festac, people kept trooping in and out. Her clientele is LARGE!! And as you know, clients don’t lie. My mum even met a high school mate of hers there (and kept us waiting for another hour!)

I’ll include a few more pictures for your viewing pleasure. Ohh my sister and I got our makeup done by my roommate turned friend, Chioma @hidaartistry. She works with Joyce Jacobs and they don’t come cheap, but tell her Meme sent you, she’ll give you a good deal.
